Punjab Government’s Ramadan Nigahban Package: A Relief for Millions
Nigehban Ramzan 2025 Government of Punjab: In a massive relief effort, the Punjab government has introduced the Ramadan Nigahban Package, a Rs 30 billion initiative aimed at supporting millions of deserving citizens. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Salma Butt, emphasized the government’s commitment to public welfare during a press conference with Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari at DGPR. This historic relief plan ensures that essential food items are available at subsidized rates, easing the burden on households during the holy month of Ramadan.

Transparency and Swift Action Against Fraud
During the relief distribution, fraud complaints emerged in Lahore, prompting the district administration to take immediate action. Cases were registered, and the culprits were arrested. Out of 92 fraudulent pay orders, 17 had already been cashed, but the affected citizens were fully refunded. Salma Butt praised the district administration’s swift response, ensuring justice and transparency.
Relief Through Ramadan Convenience Markets
To further ease the public’s burden, the Punjab government has set up more than 80 Ramadan convenience markets across the province. These markets have successfully served 6.5 million people in just 18 days. Key highlights include:
- Over 100,000 bags of flour sold at subsidized rates.
- Dates, which cost Rs 550/kg last year, are now available at Rs 420/kg.
- Significant reductions in prices of essential food items like potatoes, onions, and tomatoes.
- A Rs 50 discount on ghee and 2,200 bags of sugar sold daily at Ramadan stalls.
Government’s Efforts for Price Control
While the Punjab government requested sugar be priced at Rs 130/kg, it clarified that price control of sugar and ghee falls under court jurisdiction. Despite this, the administration remains committed to providing maximum relief and ensuring immediate resolution of public complaints.
